What We Do
A home inspection is a reasonable effort to disclose the conditions of a house or building as it exists on the day of the inspection.
The written report covers the highlights of the physical inspection, and of discussions between you and our inspector.
You are urged to be present during the inspection, to take notes and to ask questions about the home and the inspection process. Our job is to inform you and make you comfortable with your purchase.
We will visually inspect and evaluate your pre-purchase and pre-sale home in all accessible areas of the exterior and interior.
We also provide an array of home hazard tests to ensure the safety of your environment for your family.

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Meyer Home Inspection began in 1997.
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary focus is to provide prospective home owners a complete overview of the home or business they are interested in buying, as well as educating them on the science of home construction and maintenance. A home is a big investment and finding defects, deferred maintenance or shoddy workmanship issues before closing allows the prospective purchaser a chance to either have the problem remedied by the seller, or negotiate some sort of equitable solution.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first became interested in home inspections in the early 1990's. I have been in the construction trades for several years and realized that I may not always be able to perform the work associated with construction. My extensive background as a State of Michigan Licensed builder, a Journeyman Plumber, an EPA Certified Technician and an InterNachi Certified Home Inspector as well as a degree in Industrial Technology provides me with unique insight into the home maintenance and construction processes.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
At Meyer Home Inspection, we not only provide comprehensive structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical inspections, but also provide an array of home hazard testing such as Radon Gas (the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S.), Mold testing, Well Water testing (including Arsenic) and occurances of Lead and Asbestos materials. As a home owner, you not only want to be sure your house is structurely fit and well maintained, but that the safety of your family will not be compromised.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept checks and cash, and also Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, Discovery and American Express through our website at www.meyerhomeinspection.com
Which areas do you service?
We service all of Southeastern Michigan but are heavily focused on Oakland County.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Bill Meyer is the Owner/Operator and we are a family owned business.
What are your hours of operation?
We work with the prospective buyer and their realtor in scheduling home inspections. We like the purchaser to be able to attend the inspection so they can ask questions and observe the inspection process; so we can schedule the inspection anytime; days, evenings, even weekends. A home inspection typically takes 2 hours depending on the size and age of the structure.
